KCCD Captive Portal - Connecting to KCCDopen

 

Summary

This article explains how guests, students, and employees can connect to the

KCCDopen wireless network using the KCCD Captive Portal.

Guest Access (Visitor, Contractor, or Vendor)

  Follow these steps if you are a visitor, contractor, or vendor and do not already have KCCD credentials.

  1. Turn on Wi-Fi and select the network.

        Enable Wi-Fi on your device and select the SSID KCCDopen.

        The KCCD Captive Portal should appear automatically. If it does not, open a

        web browser to trigger the portal.

     

  2. Select the guest user type.

        On the portal page, choose the option that indicates you are a

        visitor, contractor, or vendor.

     

  3. Complete the registration form.

        Fill out the requested information. Be sure to:

    • Provide a valid email address and mobile phone number so you can receive your temporary password.
    • Read and accept the Terms of Use.

        When you are done, click Register.

     

  4. Review your temporary account details.

        After registering, a page displays your temporary guest username.

        You will also receive a text message and/or email containing your temporary password.

     

  5. Connect using your temporary credentials.

        Return to the portal page and click Sign In if prompted.

        Enter your temporary username and password and accept the Terms of Use.

        Once authenticated, you will be connected to KCCDopen.

Connecting to KCCDopen with Student, Employee, or Guest Credentials

Use these steps if you have existing student, employee, or previously issued guest credentials.

 

  1. Turn on Wi-Fi and select the network.

        Activate Wi-Fi on your device and select KCCDopen.

        The KCCD Captive Portal should appear automatically.

     

  2. Choose your user type.

        On the portal page, select the option for students or employees.

     

  3. Log in with your credentials.

        Enter your:

    • Student or employee username and password, or
    • Guest username and password (after you have completed guest registration).

        Read and accept the Terms of Use and then click Login.

     

  4. Confirm your connection.

        After logging in, you are redirected to the KCCD home page, and your device is connected to the KCCDopen network.

Notes

  • The KCCDopen network provides internet access with limited bandwidth.
  • If the portal does not appear, open a web browser and try to visit any website to trigger it.

Troubleshooting

  • Issue: KCCDopen shows as connected, but you cannot browse the internet.

     Solution: Open a web browser to trigger the captive portal and complete the login process.

     

  • Issue: You did not receive the temporary password.

     Solution: Verify that you entered the correct email address and phone number. If the message does not arrive, try registering again or contact the Help Desk.
